Maldives

The Giftlist

Please do not feel like you have to buy us a gift. We appreciate that you have all spent considerable time and expense just to be here with us on our big day and for that we're more thankful than you know. It really means the world to us!

If you would still like to give us a gift, we have created a small wish list below. Since we don't yet know where in the world we will end up living someday and we've already experienced firsthand how difficult it is to make a transatlantic move with household items (many of which reluctantly had to be left behind), we are unable have a traditional toaster-and-towels gift list. With this in mind, we've put together a small list of items we will need for our honeymoon and listed some excursions we have the option of taking while we're in the Maldives.

This will be the trip of a lifetime and if you'd like to help us make this the best start to married life possible, we'd be very grateful. If you would like to contribute towards the cost of any of these items, you may do so on the day of our wedding. Thank you.

Here are a few essential items we will need for our trip...

PROTECTION FROM THE SUN - £8/bottle

We hear "lobster" isn't a good look, so we'll need plenty of lotion to protect ourselves from the hot Indian sun.

AQUA SHOES - £10/pair

When the tsunami struck in 2004, the tidal wave brought with it lots and lots of coral, which now fills the lagoon around Hakuraa Huraa. Aqua shoes are a must.

WATERPROOF DIGITAL CAMERA CASE - £30

The reasons we need this are two-fold: (i) with all the wild sea life there will be end of opportunities to take beautiful photographs; and (ii) Rachel probably can't be trusted with her camera around all that water.

...and these are a few things we can do while we're there:

DOLPHIN SAFARI - £40

The Maldives is renowned for its sea life, so we're very excited about the possibility of doing this! We will be able to spend a few hours touring the Meemu atoll, watching dolphins in their natural habitat.

ISLAND HOPPING - £35

For a change of scenery we can visit one of the neighbouring non-resort islands and experience true Maldivian culture.

KAYAKING/PEDAL-BOATING - £6/hr

Going out to sea in a kayak or a pedal boat built for two could be very romantic... or hilariously funny, since we're both out of practice. I guess only time will tell!

CANDLELIT DINNER ON THE BEACH - £40

This would be an ideal way to celebrate Curtis' 29th birthday! A table will be set up on the beach with a beautiful, illuminated driftwood backdrop and a personal waiter will attend to our every need. What could be more perfect?

ADAM & EVE'S PARADISE - DAY TRIP TO A DESERTED ISLAND - £100

A once in a lifetime experience: We will travel by Dhoni to the deserted Robinson Crusoe Island where we will spend seven glorious hours with nothing but a picnic basket and a bottle of wine for company. Sounds like paradise to us!

BOTTLE OF WINE WITH DINNER - £12/bottle

To celebrate in style and toast our new life together as Mr and Mrs Wist.

SUNSET CRUISE - £50

A breathtaking evening cruise on a traditional Dhoni around the islands of the Meemu atoll should be one of the highlights of our honeymoon.

SPA TREATMENTS - £50/treatment

In case we find that lounging around on the beach all day just isn't relaxing enough, we can enjoy some pampering each at Hakuraa Huraa's very own spa, The Sanctuary.

Thank you for helping our dream of a wonderful honeymoon come true!
